Multiplication Worksheet Generator

Generate printable multiplication worksheets from basic times-table facts up to 2-digit by 2-digit problems, with an answer key.

Start with level 1 for pure fact fluency (both factors between 2 and 9), then step up through 2-digit by 1-digit and 3-digit by 1-digit to full 2-digit by 2-digit multiplication. Every sheet is randomly generated and can be printed with or without answers.

Start with basic facts for times-table fluency, then move up to multi-digit levels. Turn on the answer key to print a teacher copy.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose a level: basic facts, 2-digit x 1-digit, 3-digit x 1-digit, or 2-digit x 2-digit.
  2. Choose 12 to 40 problems.
  3. Click New Sheet for a fresh random set.
  4. Tick "Answer key" if you want products printed on the sheet.
  5. Click Print to produce the worksheet.

The formula

Each problem multiplies two factors, a x b. Level 1 keeps both factors in the 2-9 times-table range.

Worked example

A level-1 sheet includes facts like 7 x 8, with 56 in the answer key. On level 4 a typical problem is 24 x 16 = 384, worked with partial products 24 x 6 = 144 and 24 x 10 = 240.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which level is pure times-table practice?

Level 1. Both factors stay between 2 and 9, so every problem is a core multiplication fact. It pairs well with the Times Tables Chart for students who are still memorizing.

Does level 4 cover the standard algorithm?

Yes. Level 4 is 2-digit by 2-digit (for example 24 x 16), which requires the full multiply-and-add-partial-products method taught in grades 4-5.

How fast should a student finish a sheet?

For fact fluency, teachers often aim for about 3 seconds per fact, so a 20-problem level-1 sheet in about a minute is a good benchmark. Accuracy matters more than speed at first.

Can I print an answer key?

Yes — tick "Answer key" and print a teacher copy with all products filled in, then untick and print the student copy of the same sheet.
